Morning Coffee

Jan 29, 2018

Matthew 5:18 (KJV)
18  For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

Verily is reference to the authority of Christ. Verily is translated truly or certainly. He states that one jot, or one tittle will not pass until all are fulfilled. The jot and tittle are the smallest marks in the Hebrew alphabet, so even the smallest things from scripture will not be done until all is done. The Law and the Prophets as well as the Gospel will not be changed, added to or taken away from. This morning as I was talking with my dear friend, I shared that the Bible does not tell us everything there is to know about God, but it does tell us everything we need to know about God.

One thing that causes my defensive mind to go to work are these words, “that’s not what this means”!  Or “that’s not what He meant to say”. These statements seem to be almost always in dealing with hard teachings that may offend. So we take out the sting so not to offend. We change the truth of God into a lie. It seems today that when we enjoy a lifestyle that is contrary to God’s Word, we change the word and not our lives. Maybe on the other side we make great effort to obey His word with our public lives that people see, but keep secret sin without repentance.

It may seem that I am getting negative here, but just the opposite is true. I am excited about what God is doing in our church. The whole Word of God is our foundation. We are not spiritually elite but we are spiritually growing.  We will not compromise for worldly gain, but we will stand on Jesus name, knowing that without Him we can do nothing. “John 15:5 (KJV) 5  I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. “ So we come together to worship, broken, seeking healing from the Great Physician, seeking an encounter with Him that will leave us breathless and full.  We are blessed!
