Matthew 6:13 (KJV)
13  And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:

As believers we are still growing in grace. We still are in conflict with the world, the flesh and the devil. We are still weak against the spiritual attacks of the evil one. Remember that we are still the petition park of this model and the believer should recognize their weakness to temptation. We then ask for God’s leadership against the evil one. James 1:13-14 (KJV) 13  Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: 14  But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. These verses shed light on the teaching of Jesus in our text. The petition is for God to keep us from temptation and the evil one.

We should pray this daily! Even when we feel strong, we can be easily tempted and fall to its enticement. We must remain focused on Christ. Remember that the devil doesn’t need to destroy us, just render us ineffective. Hebrews 12:1-2 (KJV)
1  Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, 2  Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.  Its not the big sins that cause us the most trouble, but those pesky little annoying things that weigh us down making us ineffective for the Kingdom. True victory comes when we become aware of sin in our life, confess it to God. Don’t wait till the end of the day and do the blanket approach, God forgive me of all my sin. But instead name each sin as you become aware of it, it will make you stronger each day as you get forgiveness and victory. As we grow in grace and win victory over those sins which trip us up, are relationship with God becomes closer. Each victory makes our relationship with God sweeter and sweeter. We are blessed.
