Matthew 6:21 (KJV)
21  For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

I have stared at this verse now for three days, meditating on it, studying it, praying it back to God just trying to wrap my mind around it. There are so many things that we treasure. The context of the preceding verses helps to get it straight. The treasures of this world are different than the treasures of heaven. If our minds and fixed on gaining worldly stuff than that’s where our heart is, gaining worldly stuff. Nothing will be more important than this. Philippians 1:21 (KJV) 21 “ For to me to live is Christ”. Paul’s eyes are totally fixed on Christ, he was thinking of heavenly treasure.

The devil will always try to distract your eyes to worldly treasure. He will use many things like popularity, personal appearance, talents, wealth, fame, family and pride to draw you away from eternal things. While these are good things, they should be secondary to our main focus which is Christ. These are tools to help us accomplish God’s will in our life.

The next time you are in church, try this. Dress as if you are going to meet Jesus. When you walk in have a smile and greet all who are present. Remember these are the people you will spend eternity with. It would be good to get to like them now. Prepare your heart for worship. Sing as if you were in the angel’s choir, pray as if the very words were directly spoken to God, give as if you couldn’t give enough, listen as though God was speaking just to you and respond to His calling in your heart. This dress rehearsal for heaven will affect your spirit so that when you leave your heart will be filled with joy and your countenance will be infectious. This Sunday, Easter Sunday, is a great opportunity to start storing up treasure in heaven. We are blessed.
