Matthew 6:31-32 (KJV)
31  Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
32  (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.

God knows all that we need. This is a simple statement but one that carries so much.  We worry about things that God has already promised, food, housing, clothes ect. I am as guilty of this as much as anybody. No matter how much we have we want more, a bigger house, a newer car, name brand clothes in current style. We spend and spend as if tomorrow will never come. There is a difference between needs and wants. God’s promise is that He will provide all these things, food, housing and clothes. Being satisfied with His provision is not easy but is always enough. Having much is not a sin as well as having little is spirituality, or humility.

Look at your prayer life. How much of our prayer is relationship building? How much is asking for needs? How much is informing God about our present situation as if He didn’t already know? We ask for so much for ourselves that we wonder why it seems God doesn’t hear. Spiritual greed is not a fruit of the Spirit. James 4:2-3 (KJV) 2  Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not. 3  Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts. God has so much more than we will ever ask for, but we want things that are not in line with His plan for us. Being satisfied with His plan will cause a change in our asking. We will ask in faith knowing that He will act. He knows not only what we need, but what will make us soar into higher places in our relationship with Him. We are blessed.
