Matthew 7:12 (KJV)
12  Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

The Golden Rule. This goes hand in hand with the greatest commandment, “…thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.” (Mark 12: 30-31).

Now isn’t that easy? How contrary to the current value structure that exist in our world today. We live in a selfish world. We are good at receiving, but not at giving. Our value system has changed from that which is Godly supported by the Word of God, to a value system that is based on the current flow of human desire. Now in the great state of California, my home state, they are attempting to establish by law to make human desire the foundation of values and strip away any dissenting voice. I just wish we would learn something from history, just once, and avoid the erosion of liberty. We want it our way. Just as Samuel heard from the people of Israel, we want a king. We want to be like everybody else, give us a king. Israel went from a theocracy to a monarchy. They didn’t want to be different from everybody else.

If we want to be treated well, treat people well! If you want to be loved, love! If you want to receive, give! I f you want compassion, be compassionate! We need more than an attitude change, we need a complete change in our heart and mind. Jesus is building on the truth that He has already spoken, “Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.” (Mat. 6:33). To reach the point in our spiritual journey where we can love our neighbor as ourselves, we must first crown Jesus as Lord of our whole life. Only then will we have this heart and mind. The first fruit listed as the fruit of the Spirit is love. To love others as He loves us we must yield. We are blessed.
