Morning Coffee

Matthew 8:1 (KJV)
1 When he was come down from the mountain,

We always have to come down from the mountain. God gives us mountains so we can be refueled for the work ahead. A mountain can be any place at any time. It isn’t a high place but a meeting place away from all the distractions. A place where we meet Jesus through the Spirit, not to be filled, but rather to surrender more of ourselves to Him and His power. John 15:5 (KJV) 5 “…for without me (Jesus) ye can do nothing “.

There have been many mountains in my life. Every year I have the great opportunity to take students to Falls Creek Baptist assembly. This place tucked away in the hills of Oklahoma is a mountain for me. So many lives have been changed in this place that it seems that the presence of the Spirit still abides like an afterglow. I was able to this year at children’s camp to take a sponsor for his first time. His testimony was that when he entered the tabernacle he could feel the presence of God.

These mountains are places that we can come to be restored over and over again. I call them footholds of faith. Bethel was a place for Jacob. (Gen 28:18-22). Moses had the mountain of God, Horeb. (Ex 3:1). To some it is an alter in some small church, to others it is a place of peace where they have had a personal encounter with God. No matter where that place is we must come down to service. The work is down the mountain.

My prayer is that the alter at your church will become a mountain that you will visit over and over again. That you will be refreshed, restored and refueled for the work. We are blessed.
