Senior Pastor

Mike Cox

When God opened the opptunity for Judy and I to move to Konawa we jumped at it.  We were both born and raised in the desert of Southern California.  We followed God's leadership wherever he wanted.  He gave us two boys which led to five grandchildren and now two great granddaughters.  We are very  blessed.

I have been in the ministry as Pastor for over 40 years.  I began preaching when I was sixteen, lots of experience.  But, experience can be a rut if we are not careful.  Konawa is a small town going through a big transition.  Thinking outside the box is how we must work to make that transition with them.

My roots are tied deep into the conservative and traditional side of Baptist work.  I believe in the work of our Baptist association, BGCO and Southern Baptist Convention.  Our worship needs to be exciting, balanced and full of joy.  I believe my California rebel comes out once in a while.

I am blessed to be here with these great people and believe that God has great plans for FBC Konawa's future.

The Lord led to me Konawa via a very long road.  I was born and raised in New Jersey, where I met and married my best friend, Landis.  We have one daughter Tracey, her husband Andrew, and our two beautiful grandchildren Katy Paige and Maggie.  Landis and I moved to Colorado in 1996 and lived there for nine years, where we owned and operated a Dude Ranch.

Fifteen years ago the Lord decided it was time for us to move to Oklahoma.  Once settled in Konawa we joined the First Baptist Church, where we found a warm loving church community.  I started my position here at FBC in August of 2008.  It has been my joy and blessing to serve our church in this capacity.  It is my prayer that I should serve the Lord through serving the members of our church.

When not busy with church work or family my favorite thing to do is ride our horses.  There are few times I feel closer to the Lord than when I am trail riding in beautiful Cedar Lake.  A constant reminder that God is good!

"For I know the plans I have for you" declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.  Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.  You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart."  Jeremiah 29:11-13 (NIV)
